Seaweed screening for power plant cooling water intake

This coastal powerplant relies on salt water intake for process cooling via heat exchangers. 

The intake filtration system could not handle the large volumes of seaweed and waterborne debris. A SPIROGUARD® CS Channel Screen and SPIROTAINER® were installed to automatically screen and contain the seawater solids. This project was unusual in that the SPIROTAINER was fabricated of 316SS. This system has been in operation since 2002.
